  2. I have a 180FS and am curious whether this graphic will work on my boat. Any advice??
  3. I have a 2006 180FS and my head unit is the Kenwood KTS-300MR w/ a KTS-RC10MR remote at the helm. As for the speakers, I can't say what make/brand they are from memory, but I believe they're 5.25 inch. I googled "KTS-300MR" and found several available, good luck in your search.
  4. I'm not one of these people who feel the need to provide music for the entire cove, but I would like to add a little needed low end sound to my stereo and am wondering how a self-container bass tube would work. I don't have the need or desire for separate subs, amps and component speakers, just looking for a little extra bottom sound. Has anyone done this? If so, how was the result? This is what I'm looking at getting: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/210-HIi3PpL._SL500_AA300_.jpg Thoughts?
  5. I have a 2006 180FS w/ a 4.3L Merc and 14.3x21 prop, no fin. I have no issues getting/staying on plane, no porpoising or cavitation issues. Unfortunately I can't quote what my RPMs are b/c I rarely run WOT, but this weekend I'll make a note and get back to you.
  6. Well, I pulled the fuse on the bilge pump, filled the end w/ water and hit the lake. Looks like the best place to install the transducer in this vessel is under the motor right behind the bilge pump (dead center). It was the only place I could get a continuous solid reading. It seems pretty accurate based on reading from nearby boats. Hopefully this info will help someone in the future. I wish there were more Monterey forums available; or at least a forum that didn't require every post be approved by a moderator. I think it kills momentum.
  7. I just bought a depth finder/sounder for my 180FS. I installed it at the lake yesterday, but was unable to get any readings when trying to mount it in the engine compartment. I didn't get a reading until I tried it in the ski locker (which is going to make for a much, MUCH harder install). My buddy seems to think to afford the motor mounts more structural integrity, there may be too much wood in the back of the boat to allow the transducer to fire through. Does anyone have a 180FS w/ the in-hull transducer who can tell me where there's is mounted? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
  8. If yours is like mine, one of these should do the trick: http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=35184&pdesc=All_Stainless_Steel_Mini_Drop_Horn_With_Low_Pitch http://www.amazon.com/Marinco-Style-White-Black-Grills/dp/B000NI1CY2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NHZWJO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000NI1CY2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1E8JGZR2TFP8889ZKRE4 If you don't like any of these, Google "drop-in marine horn" and you'll find a lot more. Good luck!
  9. It's finally done... 2 months of worrying and procrastinating over something that literally took 2 minutes to do.
  10. FWIW, I called to get pricing on mans for my 180FS 4.3L Merc w/ Alpha1 O/D: Owners man: $26.95 Service man: $84.95 Parts man: $17.95 And if you need a service and/or parts manual on the outdrive, those are separate mans and priced the same.
  11. Hi, I just bought a 2006 180FS w/ 4.3L Merc + Alpha1 o/d. I'm trying to find any/all literature I can about the baot and the motor, but resources are coming up short. I d/l'd the manuals that are available from this site, but I am hoping to find something more specific to my model year boat and motor. Plus I'd really like to get my hands on a digital copy of Mercury Mercruiser Service Manual #14 (as it looks like that's the one I need). Thank you for any and all help.
  12. I read that on another forum as well. I'll give that a try. Thanks for the 411.
  13. Hi there, I just sold my 20' pontoon and "upgraded" to a 2006 180FS. Here she is... Making the transition from pontoon to sport boat has been trying to say the least, but I'm hoping a few more outings will make it easier. Sure, I get where I'm going a lot faster, but that ride is a rough one. I'm glad I found this forum and will probably be spending quite a bit of time here. So one of my first orders of business on this new craft is to install (2) 12v power ports; one in the helm and one in the glovebox next to the stereo. I have heard drilling/cutting into fiberglass is tricky. I have looked all over the net for info about this, but all the articles I find refer to drilling / cutting into areas not pertinent to my situation (i.e. installing cleats, etc.) I would like to see if anyone on this forum has installed a power port in their boat. If so... 1) Where did you install yours? 2) What tools did you use? 3) Was it as hard or risky as some people make it sound? Since I only have a pic of the helm right now, I'll show you where I'm thinking of installing it... Any thoughts and/or advice is greatly appreciated.
  14. Hello, I just bought a 2006 180FS last weekend and coming from a pontoon is proving to be a bit unsettling. My 1995 Fisher pontoon w/ a 70hp Suz 4-stroke seemed so tight and quiet compared to this boat. Sometimes it seems like the 4.3 Mercruiser runs rough. I'm hoping it's just the transition from having that purring outboard hidden behind the stern 10' away as opposed to that 4.3 just a few feet away that makes it sound so rough. One question; right now I have a 21p prop that tops out @ 57-58 mph (gps) @ 4500rpms. Is that right? Or should I be looking at another prop?
