inverter

Recommended Posts

This post concerns the 298SS.

I will be installing a 120v inverter this spring and need good locations for mounting.

I think the engine compartment is out due to explosion concerns.

It will not see much use - but I have a need for 700w every now and again.

Does anyone have one installed?

Any issues with your location?

(yes, I realize the draw on the batteries)

Putting it under the sunpad would be the same as mounting it in the engine compartment wouldn't it?

Have you considered mounting it against the (front) wall under the sink area? I mounted my amplifier here and routed the cables to throught the engine room - the accesability is decent.

Be sure you get enough power out of the inverter. I went by the guide on the inverter and it said 700w was plenty for my blender. For the most part it works fine, but when loaded with ice it has a tendancy to trip out... Next time, I'll go with the next size up from what they suggest. Also, keep the electrical lines short as possible and heavier the gauge wire the better.
