12V circuit panel RED LED light blinks

Recommended Posts

Hi All:

What is causing the RED LED light to blink when I switch on a 12V circuit breaker such as the lights or stereo. See photo. I have a 2004 322. I thought the batteries were no good so I replaced both of them with brand new group 29 size batteries.

Thanks for any help.

Gary

Hello Garybeez,

That light is a low voltage sensor warming light and it normally comes on when it senses the voltage drop below 12.5 volts. This light should go out when you turn on the battery charger.

If it doesn’t, check the sensor located behind the panel and make sure the wire connections are secure (there are 3 wires).

Let us know.

I found the problem!

The main 2 NEGITIVE Busbar lugs in the engine compartment back wall were only finger tight. The one behind the circuit panel weren't that tight either.

Thanks

Gary

Hello Gary,

You need to add that to your annual preventative maintenance checklist. Check fittings (especially grounds) and lubricate them annually to help prevent corrosion.

"Things" tend to loosen over time....
