Help MOST: BOW Thruster for 282CR

Recommended Posts

It is often very windy where I slip my boat and was thinking that a BOW thruster would make it much easier to dock. I'm pretty handy so installing it myself would not be a problem. I do have a couple of questions though

1) Is there room on the 282CR to install one?

2) Would access be via the storage compartment in the V-Berth?

3) What size would be best....5 1/2" I.D. with 92lbs thrust or 7 1/4" with 128lbs of thrust?

Thank you in advance for the info.

Dan

Hello Dan,

A bow thruster was not offered as a factory option on the 282 Cruiser. We cannot advise you on installation or product as we have no data or performance information to rely on.

Sorry!

OK thanx...SideShift makes a pretty neat bow thruster that is externally mounted. I might give that a try.

I saw the sidethrusters at a boatshow a few years back and thought they were a fantastic idea

If you have time, please let us know how it performs, ease of installation, cost of unit etc.

Thanks

I'll make my decision sometimes in early spring. Looking at their WEB site and reviewing the installation instructions, it doesn't really look that bad. I'll keep everyone posted.
