Carbon Monoxide Detectors End Of Lif

Recommended Posts

Just a FYI..

Carbon Monoxide Detectors entering End Of Life Period

Approximately 5 years ago, UL mandated an End of Life standard for carbon monoxide detectors. The first of these new series of carbon monoxide detectors were shipped from Fireboy-Xintex in March 2010. The initial End of Life for these detectors is coming upon us starting March 2015.

At the end of the 4 years and 11 months from date of manufacture, the CO detector will begin its designed End of Life alarm. During the initial period, by pressing the reset button, the CO detector will silence for 3 days at a time. At the end of 5 years, the CO detector will go into absolute End of Life alarm mode. When that occurs, the CO detector must be replaced at the expense of the retail customer. Servicing the unit is not an option.
