  1. I have a 2006 Monterey 290cr. When the head is flushed we get a smell that my kids have named "swamp gas" in the cockpit.

We have flushed the blackwater tank several times, but still get the smell..

Can someone please advise as what needs to be done to get rid of it??

  2. I am going to try and make this work yet. There has to more then three people that would like to attend a summer get together on the water in NJ. I am trying to put together a Monterey version of Aquapalooza. Take the winter to decide and if interested, submit a few dates to select from. I would guess Tice's Shoal would be the best place or maybe a cove in Banaget Bay. either way I would really like some feedback. If this new site is working correctly I would be able to write back to you directly so you don't have to keep checking Baoting in New Jersey for a reply. If not PLEASE include your Email address.

Have a Great Winter and come on lets get involved :

We would be interested. We keep our boat in the Hudson River about 10 miles north of the NYC, it would be a decent trip to get there. We would need to know a good marina to stay over down that way for the weekend. Feel free to email me with more details.

  3. I am looking at a new 2007 290 cruiser with twin 5.0 litre merc's and bravo 3 drive's. I would like to hear from people who own this model, likes and dislikes. How does this boat handle in rough seas. Thanks Don

I just bought a New 06 leftover 290CR in august fully loaded. My family (wife+3 kids) put about 40 hours on it since in the Hudson River.

We have the volvo ocean series drives. Overall we love the boat. Fast, great handling, and good in some 3 foot river slosh. A bit noisy when pushing it, but on our model the sound proofing is pretty thin. May upgrade it to 2 inch foam when we take it out in the spring.

Comfortable boat, and the cockpit fridge + the cabin fridge really help.

We are getting about 13-14 mgp at cruising speed. You will like the boat. Plenty of Room in the cabin for day trips and weekends.
