Location of depth sounder tranducer?

I have a 2006 248 bowrider. Where is the factory installed tranducer for the Faria depth sounder located in the hull, and is there access?

I have a 2008 204. Mine is located in the engine compartment under the engine. You will see a small black circle about 2.5" in diameter. I've been trying to find out more info about the transducer but nobody seems to have any. I would like to change the depth sounder and I was wondering if this transducer is compatible.
