Andy McGrath 0 Report post Posted September 22 Hi I have recently purchased a 302, 2006 version. The previous owner recently installed a new Seastar throttle and gear shift. The gear shift is far too stiff. A friend of mine indicates to loosen the gear shift the boat is going to need to come out of the water. I am not sure that this is correct? The engines are twin Volvo Penta 5.7L V8 OSI petrol engines with outdrives. The question is can the gear level cables be slackened without removing the boat from the water? Many thanks for your help. Cheers Andy.
Atmosfear 0 Report post Posted October 7 I'm not sure about your exact shifter, but on mine there is a screw on the side of each throttle that controls the "tightness" or "friction" however you want to word it of the shifters and throttle. Mine the screw looks like a totally random Phillips screw and doesn't look like it's an adjustment screw.
