Monterey's new state-of-the-art production facility sets a new standard for boat building (2/1/2001) It is the 130,000 square foot Monterey Boat manufacturing facility, the newest of its kind for an independently owned company. Mandated by increased market share, the new facility has allowed us to design, produce and deliver boats at a higher level of quality and speed. In addition to more linear production/ greater efficiency, our facility speeds the maturity of development, enabling you to get tomorrow's most advanced boat--now. Plant highlights include a spacious gel-coat application booth, automated Router system, prototype annex and many other improvements to more efficiently design, produce, and deliver our product: Quality boats that will help you live the Monterey way of life. From Concept to Floating the Boat Thanks to our state of the art facility, Monterey is able to "build bridges without walls." It's a way of boat manufacturing that brings research, development, design, engineering, testing and production together all on the same premises. It allows a short reaction time from concept to floating the boat, keeping us on the cusp of tomorrow's marine design. It allows our team to make boats as efficient to manufacture as they are to maintain. Computer Assisted Design ensures accuracy and symmetry in construction to last for ages. Dramatic revelation testing guarantees an ergonomic layout. Every boat that leaves the Monterey plant is a testament of our working knowledge, our personal enthusiasm and a tribute to the future of design and technology. Craftsmanship Above and Below the Bottom Line Using the finest materials available, we craft boats for high performance and build them to last. We use the finest materials available and forge the best partnerships in the business. Experienced, enthusiastic design and engineering teams make your boat dreams a reality. We hire and train dedicated and talented production teams. And we use fresh designs like the air-assist chine system and new, fiberglass liner and stringer system to build stronger boats from the bottom up. Craftsmanship - When you Build for Pride Thanks to increased production facilities, we are able to manufacture many of our own parts and interiors. From our virtually indestructible hulls and Rotocast seats to our one-piece galleys, every piece of our boat is built to improve performance without sacrificing durability. Our heads and galleys are molded in high-strength, one piece, fiberglass units for ease of cleaning and improved hull integrity. For safety, durability and style, welded materials are used throughout Monterey Boats as an element of dependability. Rails and cleats are through-bolted with aluminum backing plates to eliminate vibration and keep handrails permanently secured to the boat. Boats Built with Boaters in Mind Every Monterey Boat is built with someone in mind - the boater.Anyone who owns one can point out its special features with great pride. Whether it's the easy-boarding swim platforms with telescoping ladders or designs like the clear curve, walk-through, three-piece windshields. Every aspect of our vessels are engineered with materials able to withstand harsher environments than necessary. Every boat is made for multi-purpose usage with a comfortable, ergonomic design. 2. Monterey Boats Earn High Marks In Customer Satisfaction (8/21/2002) GAINESVILLE, Fla. (August 21, 2002) – Monterey Boats customers rate the value and performance of the Monterey Boat product exceptionally high, according to a customer survey of recent boat buyers. In the survey of nearly 350 Monterey Boat buyers, nearly all of the company’s products received “outstanding” ratings, and nearly all models met or exceeded the buyers’ expectations. The survey evaluated the overall styling, comfort, design, performance, quality and value of several Monterey Boat products. Owners also were asked to assess such items as comfort and appearance of cushions, amount and accessibility of storage, visibility and convenience of throttle and other controls, and the overall structural integrity of the boat. The 200LS, one of Monterey’s Sportboats, achieved ‘outstanding’ results in almost all categories. Customers gave the 200LS especially high scores in overall design. Two of the manufacturer’s larger Cruisers – the 282CR and 298CR – received some of the highest ratings overall. The 282CR received the highest overall boat rating and earned best overall value. The 298CR rated high in all areas of performance, including acceleration, top end and overall performance. Customers also gave high ratings to Monterey dealers. Overall, the 88 dealers included in the survey received “outstanding” scores in courtesy and friendliness, product knowledge and explanation of features and operation. Response Management Software Inc. polled 995 Monterey Boat buyers in 25 states for boats purchased between July 5, 2000, and Nov. 30, 2001. The company received 348 responses (35 percent) from the mailed questionnaires, which were used to publish these findings.
  3. MONTEREY BOATS EXPANDS WILLISTON FACILITY BY ALMOST 30% (4/1/2003) Williston, FL, March 28, 2003 – Monterey Boats, the Florida-based manufacturer of a broad line of cruisers, Med-style Super Sports, sport boats and deckboats, announced that they are undergoing major expansion plans to accommodate their planned growth in boat size, as well as increase efficiency in their existing process and capability. The facility will be expanded by almost 30%. “The bottom line is that we are expanding and enhancing our facility to build more boats, bigger and better, more efficiently,” said Lou Vazquez, director of sales & marketing at Monterey. “We are looking to build boats 34 ft and over, starting with the introduction of a 355 and 375 Cruisers for Model Year 2004. We also needed more space to accommodate the Blackfin line that we acquired in February.” Monterey is expanding the overall plant by 65,000 sq. ft. bringing the total size of the Williston facility to 290,000 sq. ft. Of the 65,000 sq. ft., 20,000 sq. ft. will be devoted to small parts to leave more floor space to laminate the Cruiser line. The wood shop will be doubled to 10,000 sq. ft. to develop in-house cabinetry for bigger boats while 35,000 sq. ft. will be dedicated to warehouse, purchasing and assembly, as well as an over 1,750 sq. ft in-ground water test tank. Said Vazquez: “The Test Tank will allow our engineers to perform an "in-water" float and operational check of our boats. Operational testing will include mechanical and engine systems, which are currently done in an area outside the production shop using a traditional ‘tin-man’ setup. This will assure that each boat will tested in-water prior to leaving the facility for one of Monterey’s more than 125 dealers worldwide.” Groundbreaking and preliminary construction began January 2003 and is expected to be complete by July 2003, creating up to 25 new jobs. 4. What boat is that on the cover of..... (10/3/2003) Randy Vance of "Boating Life" has written a great article in the Fall 2003 issue boasting about the many features he discovered while putting the 233EX through it's paces during a recent test drive here in Florida. The boat can be delivered with an optional tower to entice everyone to try their skills at their favorite watersport. Designed with safety first in mind, the 233EX has a deep cockpit and an extended swim platform that covers the sterndrive. We have a feeling that many others will be making the same discoveries as Randy did when they step aboard the new Monterey 233 Explorer. Go to www.boatinglifemag.com to check out the "Spotlight On" the 233EX or pick up your own issue today! Monterey's exciting, safe and fun to drive deckboat family has been expanded to also include the new 2004 223 Explorer Sun Island with the already popular 253 Explorer Sun Island. Randy named the 233EX as the "new family fun machine" so, get your family and go have some fun!
  5. Definitely an Exclusive! (2/1/2004) Kevin sat at the helm of the 350 with its twin 420 hp Volvo Penta 8.1 GXi engines attaining 52.2 mph at 5002 rpm! Talk about walking the walk and talking the talk, this new and largest of our Cruiser line can do just that. This exciting model scored extremely well in all of the areas that Boating Magazine utilizes as a guideline for their certified test results. The boat is surprisingly easy to maneuver, comfortable to relax in above or below deck and has a classy yet "sassy" look. Once you feel the thrill of the Monterey 350 Cruiser-you'll never look back! 6. Maybe it's time to experience an Island, a Monterey 228 Sun Island that is! MORE>> (2/16/2004) If you haven't yet read the review of his Island adventure, you need to check it out in the March 2004 issue (the excitement starts on page 46). We have created a pocket cruiser that is perfect for daytripping or those weekend get aways we all love to enjoy. This boat features Monterey's own creation that disguises itself as a comfy bench seat, but transforms into a luxurious Sun Island when you lower the seat back. It is also boasting a cozy yet comfortable cabin that easily entertains four adults. However, once you climb aboard I doubt you'll be spending very much time down below... Visit your local Monterey dealer soon, an "Island" awaits you!!
  7. "The Next Big Thing" (3/1/2004) The 350 Sport Yacht is described by Jeanne as "an express Cruiser with hot legs" due to the steamy European style lines and the performance to back it up! The Monterey 350 acheived 50 mph in the face of "hair-snapping" 20 knot winds and a stinging downpour that day on the Guana River near St. Augustine, Florida. The maneuverability of the boat impressed Ms. Craig as she took the helm to get a feel for the boat herself. She describes the boat's twin sterndrive 420 hp Volvo Penta engines as "carving through turns without a fuss" after reaching plane in just 5 seconds! After a few hours of fighting some very nasty weather, the dock looked pretty inviting I'm sure, but not as inviting as the warm, "buttery" cabin of Monterey's new 350 Sport Yacht. As Jeanne dryed off she admired the salon with it's feel of spaciousness, but loved the private spaces offered by the interior layout. She found Monterey's new flagship "both brawny and sexy" and termed it "The Next Big Thing"! Check out her full review in your issue of "MotorBoating" today!
  8. ON THE COVER!! (8/1/2004) Tom Thompson was very impressed with the performance and comfort of the 263 Explorer Sport. He hit a top speed of 55.5 mph at 4800 rpm and decided "this is not your father's deckboat"! He put the big boat through it's paces with high speed turns in medium chop with a stiff breeze blowing and came to the conclusion that it is "much more than that"! Tom has really taken notes in this article! He has all the facts and figures for the beautiful Monterey 263 Explorer Sport from his test ride here in Florida. The tutorial on this boat starts on page 18 in Volume 19, Number 3. Pick up an issue today or click on the link on our home page to powerboating.com!!
  9. Monterey's 263 Explorer Sport hits a home run! (8/16/2004) Steve Quinlan definitely had a chance (as a matter of fact he had two) to put the big new deckboat through it's paces! His first test in Tampa Bay waters was impressive enough but the true test was a run to Catalina Island off the California coast that included ground swells and wind waves. This three page article is so full of information and actual test results that you do not want to pass it by. He not only has an in depth description and critique of the boat, he also has two tests to base his posted performance results on. His findings were that the Monterey 263 Explorer Sport hits a "home run-all the way to the upper deck." You can pick up your September issue today or log onto Trailer Boats using our "links" on our home page at montereyboats.com.
  10. "Boating Life" Fall 2004 Issue (10/21/2004) It is none other than the sleek and beautiful Monterey 350 Sport Yacht! There is no doubt about it, that is a fabulous boat! Darrell does a great job presenting the line up of new models from several manufacturers which also includes a write up on the Monterey 214FS and Monterey 180FS (Facet Series). Great looking and born to perform, they are brand new introductions this year by Monterey. Pick up your issue of Boating Life today and preview all 50 of the "awesome rides for 2005".

A "score" is derived from the results of ownership surveys returned and measured by an independent marketing firm. To receive this Award, the participants were required to achieve and maintain a standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over this past year from July of 2003 to June of 2004.
  12. ON THE COVER OF "TRAILER BOATS"!! (12/21/2004) Zenon calls the Monterey 214FS (Facet Series) a "Hard Body" due to the innovative style lines of the new model. He recently tested the boat equipped with a Volvo Penta 5.0L GXi/SX in Florida's Tampa Bay and came up with some great test results! He writes that the boat's time to plane was "very good" and that the "forward visibility-due to the lack of bow rise during holeshot-was excellent." Please pick up your copy of "Trailer Boats" magazine today or visit them on line at TrailerBoats.com!

The following is an excerpt from the marine editor at NADAguides.com regarding the selection of the Monterey 263 Explorer Sport: "Ready to hit the open water instead of the open road? With its 8-foot, 4-inch beam, deep cockpit and V-hull design, the Montura is right at home on big lakes, rivers or coastal waters.
  19. Boating World Magazine is impressed by the ride of Monterey's 180 Edge (1/15/2000) Parabolic Performer With it's parabolic hull, the Monterey 180 Edge may be the shape of things to come... ...The parabolic shape really cuts down on bow rise from an idle start, giving the impression that the boat gets up on plane almost instantly. And it does get up and go pretty quickly.
  20. The Monterey Montura LS Series: It's All in the Details (7/15/2001) Building a boat takes considerable attention to detail. Design factors such as the styling, cockpit layout, engines and the like are the big picture. The little things take the most sweat to make right. So when Monterey Boats decided to redo its sportboat line, they had a big job ahead of them. "What we set out to do in designing the Montura LS Series was to make it the finest sportboat line, bar none," Anthony Kalil, Monterey's Director of Design, explains. "We looked at what else was out there, plus came up with ideas of our own, all to make the line unique." The result is a series of boats that are full of features that impress you immediately, "and about ten times more that you'll never see," Kalil continues. At the core of the Montura LS Series are a lot of little things done nicely. There's plenty of room for options and the boats are designed so they can easily be installed. There are also quite a number of thoughtfully integrated components--for example, the grab rails in the bow seating area that are recessed so that when you sit sideways, they don't poke you in the back, or the company name graphic across the stern that doubles as a nighttime reflective safety device. "These things might not necessarily the bases on which you decide to buy the boat today, but they're done so, after you’ve bought the boat and had the opportunity to experience these details, you'll come back and buy another Monterey in five years," Kalil says. The Monterey Montura LS Series consists of four hulls -- the 198, 200, 218 and 248. All are available as bowriders. The 218 and 248 also have a cuddy cabin version. MerCruiser I/O's are the power of choice. The Montura LS boats are a bit beamier than others in their class, giving them an extra measure of cockpit space. They're built with a fully integrated fiberglass deck liner. You have a choice of seating configuration that includes swivel captain's chairs and either bench or jump seats across the back. You won't need to buy a big tow vehicle to trailer any of the Montura LS Series. The heaviest of the group tips the scale at just over 3,000 pounds. Their size belies the interior roominess. All have generous seating and storage. Another of the well thought out elements of the Montura LS is the closeout door to the bow seating area. Yes, some bowriders don't even have one, and on a chilly day, your legs are left to the icy breezes. On others, the door is added on almost as an afterthought. The door, along with the plastic strips and hardware that support it stick out in the passageway, creating something that can poke you in the leg and hurt you while you're moving around on the water. "I think we're the only manufacturer who has addressed that problem," Anthony Kalil points out. "We've taken the effort to recess the door into the bulkhead and deck. It makes for a better, cleaner look, too." He adds, "You probably won't buy the boat for that feature, but you'll appreciate it once you've used it for a few seasons.” Another of the considerations taken into account by Monterey in building the LS Series was a problem common to all boats - moisture getting to the stereo. Often the chassis will be mounted inside a carpet lined wooden box. When it gets wet, as will everything onboard at one time or another, moisture wicks into the electronics to cause corrosion and ultimately the unit fails. Sometimes the stereo is mounted next to an in-dash cooler that on a hot summer's day sweats up a storm. Monterey puts their stereos inside an insulated fiberglass box that's integral with the deck and includes a water dam to keep the space dry. There's also a CD holder in the glove box door to keep the discs out of the bottom of the compartment and away from dirt and moisture. Another clever moisture relief solution is a channel that runs down the keel, inside the ski locker. It drains water to the bilge pump instead of soaking PFD's and other items stored there. This channel also runs under the fuel tank to keep the area dry, preventing damaging corrosion and mildew odor. All the little things that go into the new Monterey Montura LS Series boats are intended to, as Anthony Kalil says, "eliminate the things that take the enjoyment out of boating." And in todays busy world, a boat that provides a great boating experience is what Monterey is all about.

And the integrated swim platform includes a recessed telescopic boarding ladder for convenience and safety, as well as a large wet storage and ski rope compartment. Forward on the port side, a passenger can recline comfortably while the boat is on plane on the aft-facing chaise lounge with contoured backrest. Starboard, the double folding driver’s seat with flip up bolster allows for a comfortable ride, whether sitting or standing. Here, the premium Dino black wheel is complemented by a well-laid out wood-grain dashboard with built-in, easy-to-read instruments and gold-rimmed Faria gauges. Made of curved safety glass, the walk-thru windshield leads the way to the foredeck where the two-person sun pad comes with grab rails on each side for added safety. Below deck, the 245 provides comfort typically reserved only for larger craft, with a dinette that offers spacious seating and converts into a luxurious double berth. On the port side is a one-piece molded fiberglass galley built for easy cleaning. It's complete with an AC/DC refrigerator, one-burner stove, sink with faucet and spacious cabinets. The black Corian countertop adds style and convenience. Designed with weekend getaways in mind, the mid-cabin provides 6 feet of headroom to create a feeling of open, airy space. Monterey also enhances brightness by using off-white throughout the cabin in combination with the bow mirror that reflects light from the entrance. There’s also a totally enclosed fiberglass head complete with sink, faucet, showerhead and a standard manual pump head or optional Vacu-flush head, both with holding tanks. Engineered and constructed with only the highest quality materials, the 245 comes with Monterey’s five year transferable warranty.
