  1. I have a 2002 242. What should I use to restore the moderately oxidized finish on gelcoat
  2. Tks very much for your help. I have the trim tabs down slightly and the engine trim up slightly. I play them a bit and watch my GPS speed to see if there is any difference. My bottom is good. The load is 2 persons, 3/4 gas full, no water in tank. Does it hurt if I run at this RPM or a little over 4000?
  3. I have a 2002 242 cruiser with a 5.0 EFI merc I/O. When I cruise, with a light load aboard, my RPMs are 3600 for a speed of 23 mph. Does that seem high? Is there something I can do to lower the RPMs? Tks for your input
  4. I've got a 2002 242 with a 5.0 EFI merc bravo III. It seems my gimbal needs replacing. Any thoughts as to what this should cost? Tks Cam
  5. Thanks very much. My swim platform has a rough surface. Will it work on that?
  6. Has anyone used to SeaDek to recover their swim platform. I wondering how good it is and can it cover a platform with a rough surface.
  7. I have a 2002 242CR with a 5.0 efi bravo3. I'm trying to calculate my range and judge how well my boat is performing. If I cruise at 3000 rpm, is there a ballpark estimate of what my mpg should be?
  8. I have a 242 cruiser with a Garmin 545 chartplotter. When cruising my chartplotter depth readout often does not change and seems locked at a certain number (depth). Is my unit broken? Are readouts affected by speed (25 mph)? does the type of bottom (sand) affect the read out? Tks for the help

    242 gauges

    Thank you for the info
  10. I have a 2002 242 cruiser and the gauges, especially the gas gauge doesn't work. Should I try to get it repaired or just have it replaced? If replace, any suggestions as to mfgr and specs? Tks Cam

    Ian,

Tks very much for your input. It sounds like I could use a 'starter' & a deep cycle, as long as I manage my selector.

    All the best

  12. I am new to boating & have what may be a dumb question. I have a 2002 242 monterey. It has a perko battery switch and 2 deka starting batteries. Question - if I want to go and anchor somewhere for the day and /or night and use lights and radio, should I leave the selector switch on 'All' or switch to 1 or 2 and try and save one battery as a starting battery. My concern is because both batteries are 'starting' batteries and not 'deep cycle' Tks Cam
