    My 2004 298SC did not come with the ugraded sound system so I installed a Kenwood KDC-232MR receiver (plus Sirius) along with Infinity 602 speakers (two in galley and two up top, none on radar arch). I'm still not satisfied with the sound and considering installing an amplifier and possibly a subwoofer.

     

    Here are some questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me.

     

    1. Where is the best place to install the amplifier? Where does Monterey install the amplifier(s) with the upgraded sound system?

     

    2. Where is the best place to install a subwoofer? Again, where does Monterey install the subwoofer on the upgraded sound systems.

    I also have a 298SC and would like to upgrade the sound system looking forward to this answer also perhaps behind TV for amp and under driver/rear seat cut a hole in storage compartment ?? for sub ??

    I have noticed last few trips that the mph gauge starts out fine but as trip goes on it dies to zero. stop for a bit and is fine again then dies again.. any suggestions?

     

    I have a 298 SC with twin 5.7 merc's bravo III's I have experienced this when I have been in a heavy weeded area all I do is stop the boat clear the weeds by reversing the engines (outdrives) This has solved the problem every time Norm

    Recently purchased a 2003 Monterey 298 SC with 5.7 merc's (180hrs) equipped with everthing including gen set. So far very impressed with boat's performance and handling. Is their any thing that I should be aware about this particular model. I have noticed that along the arch during heavy rains the top leaks is this pretty common ? If so is there a quick fix (besides a bucket) ? Norm
