1. Hi all,

I was wondering if other 270CR 205 owners are experiencing the same issue as us on our JABSCO Twist'n'Lock Compact Manual Head.

Background: We dry store our boat at the marina. We also never close any of the thru-hull shut-off valves. (Thinking/guessing this may have something to do with it… since all the water typically drains out.) I have also replaced all the internal fittings/seals (Jabsco Service Kit) on the pump-out mechanism (thinking that’s the problem). However, the problem still occurs intermittently.

Question: The potty always pumps out into the holding tank even if you just dump water into the bowl), however sometimes it just won’t suck water in (needless to say the little lever is in the right position to allow it to pump out and in into the toilet). I’m questing (by looking under the stairwell that the thru hull valve) is the one that sucks water in from the lake into the potty? Or am I wrong and the porta-potty get its water from the clean water holding tank on the boat?

    Kind regards,

    Heinrich

I used to have a 250CR and had the same problem. A buddy of mine at our marina also had the problem. In time the seals go bad on the hand pump. On mine and my buddy's, replacing them helped but if I remember correctly, if you don't get them just right it won't work. Seems to me I had to redo mine a couple of times before I got it to work correctly.....wouldn't hurt to try the baby oil thing first though.

  2. I googled this system because it is the same gauges that I have on my 242. I've read several reviews and all say this system starts out running okay then after a little while the numbers it delivers is all wrong.

I'm going to go with a Flowscan system instead. It's the same cost and a little easier to use. The Faria system's Flow and Total buttons having multifunctions and I having CRS, I wouldn't be able to remember which set to press for which function.

I was interested in these because it would match my current gages just as you stated. Money is a bit tight and I was just going to buy 1 for now. Figured I would just double the number for total GPH. You can get them for $179ea on boatersland and I have not been able to find any flowscan gages for the same price. Feel free to pass along any info for the flowscans if you have it.

I did contact Faria and they told me that these will not work on my boat if the engines have a fuel return. I have 5.0 Merc Cruisers but I'm not sure if they have a return. I'll have to check this weekend.

Thanx for the tip, I'll certainly do some more research.

  3. I don't have A/C in my 2004 Monterey 282CR. I would like to add it. Does anyone know if this is possible, is there a plug and play unit available from Monterey, does anyone know where the A/C unit would go in a 282CR? I am selling my boat and buying a 322, I can't sell it without A/C! I have had 50+ people calling me on it, nd all want A/C. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I'm not sure about plug and play....I'm sure it can be done but would probably be a lot of work. The A/C-Heat unit goes under the forward facing seat in the galley with the drain slightly aft of that and the control unit goes on the cabinet above that. SeaCock and water pump are in the engine compartment, you'd have to run the water line forward to the unit. If you need pictures, I can take some next weekend for you.

  4. I ended up sending the original ones back and bought the ones from Oznium (these turn on only when the power is 'on' ). Thanks Dan!

Also, ended up installing blue leds under the air ducts... after seeing what you guys did, the itch just didn't stop... :) ) Can't wait to go boating at night now...

Just noticed that you asked me a couple of questions.....looks like you got your answer's. Sorry about that, I had not checked this thread in a while.

I'm sure it'll look good at night. Show some pics when you get a chance.

  5. Dan,

The picture you posted is a cockpit cover. A mooring cover will cover the entire boat from bow to stern. By the way, the Taylor Made canvas division in Florida, is now known as Ameritex.

If you want a mooring cover for the entire boat, I would suggest contacting either Fisher Canvas

    http://www.fishercanvas.com/

415 Saint Mary St Burlington, NJ 08016

    (609) 239-2733

    They make outstanding products.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense...I've always call it a mooring cover....LOL

  6. Do you mind if I ask you where you bought those light switches (with the blue/green LED embedded)?

Also, are they weather (water) resistant?

    Regards,

    Heinrich

I bought the switches from oznium.com. I'm not sure how weather resistant they are. My boat is strictly used in fresh water and I allways have the full canvas on in inclement weather. I figured they'd be ok and if they fail, I'd just go find something else. I've got it set up so that they can easily be changed.

  7. looks good man. I got comments all summer long on my lights and now a couple of folks at the marina want me to help them install some this spring. That's ok...I'm looking to upgrade my boat so I don't have too much planned for it this year....just the addition of a 110v outlet near the cockpit table and changing my depth gage to one that has air and water temp.

  8. On my old 250cr, I cut some screen material and sewed some velcro on it. I then attached the other side of the velcro to the inside door opening. I kept the screen rolled up and when needed, I put it on the top and then just rolled it down and stuck it to the velcro. Worked pretty awesome. The only issue I had was while sewing the velcro, the glue kept messing up the needle and thread.

  9. I was thinking of applying this on a hot day, wash the surface with a light solvent and I was going to rent on of those rollers that floor guys use when laying vinyl tiles etc...I will keep you posted if ever we get a hot day.

I've been in contact with Hydro Turf and am waiting fo some samples. I might do this in the spring. Definately keep me posted if you do it also.

  10. In 2005 I bought a new Monterey 250cr. In 2008, I bought a leftover 2006 Monterey 282cr. In my opinion, Monterey makes a very good quality boat. The fit / finish / syling is one of the things that I liked the most out of Monterey. I think you'll be very happy with the brand. Good luck and you won't be dissapointed.

  11. I have put it on my Seadoo 150 and it is GREAT. Non slip and I was thinking of using it on my swim paltform on my 282CR. I used the Hydro Turf and they sell it in big sheets all custom colours and designs.

WOW, EXCELLENT idea. I also put the Hydro Turf on my Ski, definately going to look into putting it on my swim platform.

  12. Dan looking at the picture you provided, how do you remove the bulb in that light that's in the picture to the right of the A/C controls?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Mark,

Wish I could answer that. The picture is not from my actual boat, I just know what the AC panel looks like and grabbed a picture off the WEB. I would suspect that either one of the ends twists off or you need to pop the lens off.

  13. I replaced the long block and found free wires with marks Mercathode. Where do they have to be connected?

Black goes to ground, red goes to positive on your battery. The Mercathode is a system that provides automatic protection against galvanic corrosion.

    Good Luck,

    Dan

  14. Hi, I just bought a 2004 265 and on the 120V electric pannel, there is a switch for air conditioning.... and it is not suppose to have AC and I can not see any air vent on any picture... I saw the switch when I looked at pictures of the boat. The boat is winterized and I do not have acces until next spring. My question is, do you think it has AC?? If not, why is there a switch??

Thanks and have a very nice day!!!

    J-phil

I highly suspect the panel is a standard panel. If you have AC, the unit would be located under one of the seats in the V berth. Seeing as you can't get into it until spring, do you remember a panel similar to the one circled in my picture? If so, then you have AC. If you can't remember, take a look outside on the starboard side. If you see an drain outlet just above the waterline under the forward port window, you probably have AC. That drain is the outlet for the AC....conversly you'll have an inlet on the bottom of the boat near the stern.

  15. I have a 2000 Monterery 262 Cr with 5.7 Mercruser. I just recently reconized that the tach was over revving. The more I watched and listened I relized that the tach showed that it was over revving BUT the engine was not really over revving therefore it appears that it is a problem with the tach and NOT the motor. My 1st thought is that it may be a ground wire. Do I look under the dash 1st at the wiring or is there a connection to the motor. My major question here is where do I look on the motor for the connection???? I also relize that it could be a bad tachometer. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem with both of my tach's but it's very sporatic. I just tap on them then they go down to the correct reading. I have heard of folks stating that issues with grounds...I have not done any trouble shooting on mine but MOST has mentioned before that there is a lifetime warrenty on them...Maybe they'll chime in.

    Dan.
