Hello Dan,A bow thruster was not offered as a factory option on the 282 Cruiser. We cannot advise you on installation or product as we have no data or performance information to rely on.
Sorry!
OK thanx...SideShift makes a pretty neat bow thruster that is externally mounted. I might give that a try.

It is often very windy where I slip my boat and was thinking that a BOW thruster would make it much easier to dock. I'm pretty handy so installing it myself would not be a problem. I do have a couple of questions though
1) Is there room on the 282CR to install one?
2) Would access be via the storage compartment in the V-Berth?
3) What size would be best....5 1/2" I.D. with 92lbs thrust or 7 1/4" with 128lbs of thrust?
Thank you in advance for the info.

On my old 250cr, the aft bed was real close to a queen size. I've looked at the 270 and I'm pretty sure it's the same. In either case, you should be able to easily sleep 2 adults.

Ok, the key I have will start the engine, but the same key does not fit into the sliding door to the downstairs on my 245.Is there a different key? or some generic "key" that is used to lock the door? I bought the boat used.
Thanks!
It's a different key....you'll have to go to a dealer and get one for the door.

Here's what we named our 282CR

Very nice... Are you going to miss the blue hull? I'll keep my eyes open this summer when we visit Sebago Lake. The blue hull was very nice...we'll probably miss that but we're extreamly happy with the rest of the boat. So much more room compared to our old 250.
I'll keep my eyes open also...we occaisionally go in the point sebago cove. I have a friend that stays there.

still haven't found it. by looking at it as close as I can it sure looks like it pulls water from the fresh water tank. Maybe the seal is bad on the pump???It may pull from the freshwater. Whether it does or not, the Jabsco toilets are known for the seals in the pump to give out. You may have to order a seal kit from your dealer. In the 3 years that I owned my 250CR, I've had to replace the seals twice. A few folks at the marina have also had to replace theirs.

Does anyone know how to get rid of a garlic/gassy type smell from the fresh water system, we have tried draining the tank but smell remains. It is disgusting and makes me want to retch when I run the taps. Thank you.I know that you can used a mixture of bleach and water but not sure of the mixture ratio. Look in your manual, it should tell you. I'll check mine this weekend and let you know what it is.

Here's a review of the 400 SY. Seeing as you've already purchased it it may not matter but I thought I'd share.

Hi all,After searching the internet for the last week for Monterey boat information (of which, compared to higher profile companies, there is little), I was pleased to come acrossed this board. My name is Justin and I'm 23 years old living in Mass... and looking to buy my first boat! My family boated for several years in 2 different Bayliners, so I started my search there. I am somewhat limited on funds (I know, why am I taking up boating then!?) and Bayliner had a few different cruisers in my price range. Then my father informed me that his company had just recently become a Monterey dealer and I should check them out... needless to say I'm now leaning towards the Monterey 250CR over the 245 or 265 Bayliners. Has anyone here been out on a 250CR? Even seen it for that matter? Right now the only dealer in my area doesn't have any cruisers in stock yet. My fiance and I are looking for a smallish boat that we can handle by ourselves but still have friends on for day trips or spend nights on without feeling too cramped. Would this fit the bill? How does it stack up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Justin
Justin, first things first...yThe 250CR is an awesome boat. You'll be very happy with it. I will tell you though, your going to pay more for a Monterey but it is definitely a higher quality boat however, I think the Bayliner offers a bit more room down in the cabin. I just traded my 2005 in for a bigger boat so if your interested in looking at a used one, I'll give you my Monterey Dealer's name up here in Southern Maine. You won't be sorry for picking the 250CR.

I have a 2005 282 which is the same boat. Mine has two Volvo 5.0GLE gas engines and love the boat. HP 220 each and moves well. Very stable and feels like a heavy well ballanced boat. I use mine soly in the ocean and docked in a slip in a harbor in California. I do use a Nutrasalt system to help last a little longer. I guess I could just say love the boat!Thank you for the information. The one I'm looking at is Merc powered with Brave III's. I'm sure it's very compatible with the Volvo. What is the top end of your boat? Any idea on fuel efficiency?
"It looks like boatinglife.com has an archieve review on it. It cost a couple of bucks, but they give good reviews."...I checked there and could not find any reviews. Just a small one paragraph article about it.

Hi, I have encountered the same problem with my 282. I changed my props out for ones with a larger pitch and it was like a different boat. You may want to check out some different props prior to changing engines out. For specifics you can email me at paullav@adelphia.com. PaulPaul, what are the specifics on your 282? Thinking of getting a new leftover 2006 with twin 5.0's and am wondering how well it goes!

Thinking of upgrading my 2005 250CR to a new leftover 2006 282. Yes that's right, NEW leftover 2006!!! This boat is loaded to the gills, has twin 5.0 Bravo III's on it. Can anyone out there who has one answer these Q's?
What is the top end?
At cruise any idea on fuel usage..GPH?
Overall impression of the boat?
I have not physically been in the boat yet....just seen pictures and it looks pretty nice. Appears it would be a nice upgrade.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'll make my decision sometimes in early spring. Looking at their WEB site and reviewing the installation instructions, it doesn't really look that bad. I'll keep everyone posted.
