Skeg damage 214fs

Recommended Posts

Well I did it! I cant believe I damaged my skeg on a rock. Its a little bent and a piece broke off on the bottom back. Does anyone know the best coarse of action? Fix it or place a skeg guard over it? I've called a few places and one recommended buying some quick steel and some paint and fix it myself. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike,

If it is bent, mishapen or has pieces missing it will affect the boat's performance, ride and handling. Depending on the force of impact the drive alignment could have been altered as well. This can cause more damage to the outdrive itself.

To be on the safe side, contact a certified Mercuiser or Volvo Penta technician/mechanic to check things out and give their recommendation.

It can happen to anyone...sometimes those rocks just appear out of nowhere!
