Carbon Monoxide detectors

Recommended Posts

I have a Monterrey 280 SCR with two carbon monoxide detectors, one in the salon, and one in the main bunk. They both go off at any time, even when the boat is not running. They went off yesterday when the boat had been sitting idle for 30 days. Any suggestions on what might be doing this. The are hard wired - no battery.

Might want to blow some air through them, could be fine particles causing them to go off. I am not sure if the alarms are hooked together (i.e. if 1 goes off the other sounds as well). If they are not hooked together, seems odd that they both would go off.

I have a 2009 280 SCR and had the same issue. I discovered the CO detectors have approximately a 5 year life. After 5 years they will begin beeping intermittently & then on a more consistent level. They need to be replaced. They are readily available from iboats.com and Defender Marine.
