  1. Give yourself some time to get used to operating the tabs. Make small adjustments. It takes a bit of getting used to.
  2. Clean the tracks out first. From the cockpit, close the companionway door all the way. Using a garden hose with gentle pressure, let the water run into the door tracks until it fills up and begins flowing back out. This will wash out any debris caught in the track rollers and drain into the cockpit drain at the base of the door. Do this until dirt and debris no longer comes out. Next, while the door is still closed check the screws that hold the track to the bottom of the door itself. There should be three of them (phillips head). Next, open the door all the way and check the screws holding the slider track down. Tighten all of them. Wipe out the track. When dry, use some WD-40 on the upper and lower tracks. This cleaning process should be part of your regular preventative maintenance schedule. When finished, remove the grate on the cockpit drain and clean out the debris that may have gathered there.
  3. Hello Richard, You have to pull the prop to see it and change it out.
  4. Hello Barrie, A flag staff is not available from the factory (sounds like a good idea for an option though!). I googled "boat flags" and there were tons of sites to choose from.
  5. The warranty coverage time period for most of the components on the 256 Cruiser was from one year to five years from the date of original retail purchase. However, if your Cruiser was equipped with Faria gauges (800-473-2742 or www.faria-instruments.com) they have a lifetime, limited warranty.
  6. I have not heard this one before! The 242 Cruiser head door is a veneer. You could try this- remove the door from its hinges, make a tiny hole and inject super glue (or other strong adhesive) apply a C-clamp or weight it down and let it dry. Or, if you know anyone in the cabinetry business you might want to seek their advice!
  7. Hello Everyone, The link to the previous Discussion Boards has been provided. Currently, there is no effective way to transfer the threads to here. This link will be available for the next six months. You do not need your old user name and password, the boards are open. There are literally thousands of posts and lots of great information- I encourage you to copy and paste any posts you want to keep for your own use or to answer a fellow member's question. It is just not possible for us to keep both forums and house all of the information in our system that is archived. It is quite simply too immense!!
  8. What is the engine/outdrive/prop on the 262 Cruiser you are looking at?
  9. Russ is correct, trailer needs and arrangements are taken care of on the local level by your dealership.
  10. Hello Mark, Unfortunately, due to a fire we suffered in August of 1999 the owners manual for your 196BR is no longer available from the factory. You can download the 194FS model from the current Sportboat manual in the Product Support section. If you have a specific question regarding your boat's systems that your dealer cannot answer, you can contact Monterey Boats Customer Service at 352-529-9181 and ask for technical help. Your engine manual is available through Mercury (www.mercurymarine.com or 405-743-6566) or Volvo Penta (www.volvopenta.com or 757-436-5100) please have your engine serial number ready whenyou contact them. I hope this helps!
