  1. Yep, that's where the horn is located. If you stick your head into the anchor rope opening you will be able to see it (just don't get stuck)...
  2. I love the rubber duck on the back... man, o man that would have made life so much easier... not having to swim to the beach every time...
  3. Hi all, Yep, this is mostly to keep the bugs out (and small inquisitive kids in)... I'll contact Bowmar & West Marine tomorrow... if all else fails, I'll just have to have something custom made. (This is what happens when small kids try and play frisbee with grown up toys and in the process bend it until the inner metal ring snaps.) Again thanks to all for your responses. Heinrich
  4. Hi again all (and Rip5), Yes, I have actually asked the Admin's to rename the description to "Need part number for thru hull discharge 2005 270CR" (or something more appropriate...in the initial post I messed up the description and have no way to go back and rename it - I assume it's just not going to happen...) Anyway, yes I am referring to the stainless thru hull discharge fitting... I'll contact West Marine tomorrow (thanks for the lead) to see what they say... All I really need is the rubber on the inside. It appears to be have a little 'groove' near the top edge to allow it to 'bend' open easier... hope it makes sense... I'm attaching some more images (of ones I took this afternoon... after a nice dip in the lake). Btw, I'm wondering if just using some rubber 'tube' and cutting it to size might work? Again, thank you so much for responding!
  5. Hi there, I'm looking to replace the rubber parts that's on the starboard side of the boat. The boat has 2 of these on the starboard side and 1 at the back on the port side as well. I'm including an image to show where the starboard locations are (note: I'm not referring to the genset's exhaust). Can anyone please tell me where I can order a replacement part? Thank you! Heinrich
  6. Hi there, Okay, so its clear as mud how to describe this (not even Google helped me figure this out) . I'm looking for the shade/filter that goes on the inside of the hatch/window that's on the inside/front of the boat. I'm attaching an image (with a pointer pointing to what I'm referring too) to help explain what I'm looking for... it's a black circle with covered black material (that can clips into the hatch and helps with shading from the sun). It contains a circle metal that keeps it 'stiff'... mine snapped (I'm guessing where it was welded/soldered) and now just keeps falling out... Can anyone please tell me where I can order a replacement part? Thank you! Heinrich
  7. I installed a set on each side of the engine (2 x 6 LEDS). Took about 2 hours to complete - drill the transom and wire it all up (don't forget to use marine glue). I would suggest when you install it that you go via the shut off switch (you don't want to come back and wonder why your battery is dead). Also running the wires to the helm is pretty easy (tons of space at least on my 270CR) for an on/off toggle switch. Couple of suggestions I would gives is look at the ones that have 12 LEDS, so you end up with a total of 24 (if I have to do it again that's what I would go with, more $$ but worth it). Lastly, the fuse size they recommend is way to small... (mine kept blowing until I asked the experts at the dock what might be the cause). Here are a couple of images what it looks like... and honestly these images do not give it justice. It extends about 6-8 feet behind the swim platform, and of course running with it turned on... is unreal! O btw, and it attracts fish like a magnet...
  8. Hi Rod, I bought a Lewmar V700 Vertical Windlass for $556.84 from www.WholesaleMarine.com . When we received it, it did not include the actual toggle switch (the box was clearly opened prior to shipping). So, after reading the details on the box carefully it was clear someone removed it… so, after talking ‘nicely’ to the sellers they sent us the dual direction toggle switch (LEW-0052519). So, make sure yours are included… Installing it, is trivial… wiring it after the fact is another story (why people don’t just get the windlass pre-wired blows my mind!). Also, apparently you must use marine grade wire (way more expensive I might add). The easiest (shortest) route is behind the skirt… bathroom… (starboard side). Also, make sure the wires run via the master on/off switch as well as circuit breaker (comes with the windlass as well). Lastly, make sure you install the windlass off center… since you want the rode to run as close as possible to the center line of the boat (checkout the install diagram before cutting the holes http://www.lewmar.com/cms/assets/1/literature/65001022%20iss2%20v700_english.pdf ). Btw, I was seriously impressed how think the wood was to cut through… major kudu’s to Monterey! Also, make sure you get the right rode… I tried using my own rope, splicing in a chain (that seemed right per the included specs). However it doesn’t work since the chain links used by a windlass seems to be different type and gets stuck. We ended up buying a 1/2 x 150' with 10' Chain and rode from Wholesale Marine for $160.39. Personally I think the rode needs to be thicker, since it seems to loose grip if it’s not under strain… As far as anchors go… (don’t make the mistake I made)… buy, the right type of anchor for a windlass. We bought a 16.5 lbs Danforth/Fluke Style Stainless Steel Anchor for $149.99 from www.WholesaleMarine.com . However, this type of achor don’t always drop (if you pulled it in real tight). If I ever do this again, I would install the chain counter (that way you know when its all the way up). All in all we will never ever own a boat without a windlass again (did I mention underwater blue LEDS? ( http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=19018&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=10109&subdeptNum=10577&classNum=11128) Seriously check it out while installing your windlass – unbelievable!). Good luck installing it, you have my home email address… just send emails and I’ll help where possible. Heinrich PS: Rod I'll email you the original files since the files are to big to upload here.
  9. See you on the lake... we dry store at the same marina as you (I've seen yours a few times). Our boat is a dark blue 270 CR. Thinking of calling ours "Got Twins?" (due to us actually having twin girls)... of course my wife would prefer to call it "empty wallet"... but, that's another story. all in all great boat and place to cruise....
  10. This sounds very similliar like an issue I had on my boat about a year ago. What I also saw was that the grill (by the air intake) would ice up... and after a while I got some error on the read-out (HP??? or something - sorry can't recall the exact letters now). Anyway, after many a days I determined that the water pump (110V) wasn't working. The water pump is located in the engine compartment... (look for a pump that's red). So, what I did I went to West Marine and bought a 320Gph pump (it contans the following writing on the box MS320 6B 60Hz). It was a bargain considering it was way less that the original factory installed equipment. What you may want to-do is go to Lowes and buy the right adapters (not sure if that's what it is called) since the water in/out connectors are different. Hope this helps...
  11. Heinrich: It turns out that Wallmart (of all places) sells these pumps (for very cheap! $39). Pretty trivial to cut, re-solder and heat shrink the wires again. Problem solved. Again, thanks for the reply! (If only the cleaning materials worked... that would have been even a better deal ). Thanks again!
  12. I have one of these Attwood Sahara S500 Automatic bilge Pumps installed on my 270CR. Its located below the cabin floor in a compartment (housing) that collects water (eg from the wash basin). The pump has a float that should turn on the electric pump as soon the water reaches a certain depth... however, it doesn't. I've checked the float and it appears to be loose. Also, if I give it a light tap it does turn on... I'm not sure if it has some corrosion inside... or if the float gets 'stuck' somehow... has anyone experienced this? Needless to say I can buy a new pump at around $42... but, if someone has advice that will solve this it will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Heinrich
  13. I have a 2005 270 CR. (Blue hull). I'm curious where to find images online from this model year... Via Google you can only find images of people that's trying to sell their boat (and of course it usually has the company's name all over the image). Any ideas where I can find images like this? (besides go take pictures of your own boat ). Thanks! Heinrich
