  1. Hello Abbe Normal, The most common cause of overheating is a worn out or damaged impellor. Cherck your engine manual- I am certain that the recommended change out is every two years. Sometimes small bits of debris (usually plastic or weeds) can get sucked into the intake and reduce or stop the flow of water.

  3. Hello Smith43, Contact the manufacturer direct at Mercury Marine, 405-743-6566 (in Ok.) or on line at www.mercurymarine.com. You will need your drive serial number when you contact them. have a great weekend....
  4. Hello Ken, The top rail is 1" in diameter and the stanchions are 7/8". They are all stainless steel #304.
  5. Hello Wayne, Unfortunately, the original material and patterns for the upholstery pieces are no longer available from the vendor. Many owners have success with local upholstery shops or custom auto detailers. Check with tyour Monterey dealer, local marina or marine supply store for possible referrals and/or a list of sub contractors.
  6. Hello Boatman, The optional factory radar arch offered in 1999 for the 296 Cruiser is no longer available from the vendor. I Googled "radar arch boat" and there was a large variety of companies to choose from. Monterey Boats does not endorese nor reccommend a specific manufacturer or company, and be certain to obtain a written warranty on the product and installation! Good luck and let us know how it works out...
  7. Hello Blue Cruiser, As long as the battery charger is on and in good working order, the batteries are being charged no matter what position the battery switch/switches are in.
  8. Hello Edpia, That hinged leg is part #LEG-3841A-AFTSEAT and was distributed by Adeptus Industries (941-756-7636 ask for Debbie or Rick).

  10. Hello Fratalia17 Your companionway door lock is a Mobella product (www.mobella.com or 757-531-7779) and they are a division of Southco Industries. The part number is: LOCK-7422S-FLUSH-C I hope this helps!
  11. Hello Rkatz, That light is a Perko Industries product (www.perko.com or 305-621-7525 in Miami) and the part number is LITE-STE-946001-CH. It will be easier to replace the entire fixture rather than try to fix the broken one.
  12. Hello, You can order an extended swim platform for your 194FS through your Monterey dealer. Delivery time to your dealer is about 3 weeks out right now.
  13. Hello Bob, A bow thruster was not offered as a factory option on the 280 SCR. We cannot advise you on installation or product as we have no data or performance information to rely on. Sorry!
  14. Hello Slasmith, I am assuming you are talking about the companionway door...if so; that was a Perko product and the part number was LATCH-FLU-932-002W. Contact info is 305.621.7525 in Miami or on line at www.perko.com. I hope this helps...
  15. Hello Politby, The original dash panel is no longer available from the vendor. Unlike the automotive industry, most "custom" or manufacturer specific marine parts are obtainable approximately 5 years beyond their status as a current production model. There are aftermarket companies that specialize in custom panel work of all types. You might want to just redo the lettering on your existing panel. Check with your local marina, Monterey dealer or custom auto detailer also. There is a company called Team Marine that does this type of work (we do not recommend them in any way- it is quite simply "word of mouth" from other boat owners) and their contact info is 877-44-PANELS, 608-525-8326 or on line at www.teammarine.net . If you go with a "do it yourself" plan, be sure to remember to use stainless screws and not to overtighten them. The panel might crack.
  16. The Mercury Alpha drives have an internal water pump but the Bravo III's do not.
  17. Typically, on a thru hull water inlet supply there is no clam shell but often there is a sea strainer (with a cleaning basket) on the inside of the engine compartment, close to the bottom of the engine. A clam shell vent will not prevent small pieces of vegetation or pebbles from entering your engine and retro fitting a small screen covering the intake could potentially starve the cooling system of water. I am assuming you have a Mercury and not all Horizon engines were built with sea strainers (as per Merc specifications). To find out if your engine has one, you can contact Mercruiser at 405-743-6566 in Oklahoma or on line at www.mercurymarine.com or check your engine manual for that information. If you contact Mercruiser direct, you will need your engine serial number. If your engine does not have a sea strainer, the Mercury tech will be able to provide you with part numbers and guidance on installation of one. It would be a good idea to put one in- especially if you boat in shallow, muddy or debris filled water. With the Horizon cooling system that is installed on your engine (or any raw water pick up) the boat operator needs to do the very best at avoiding shallow, debris filled water. Excessively muddy water or stirring up the bottom while close to shore will also cause problems. The water pump on the engine has a powerful intake suction. By moving the boat to clean water and running up on plane for at least 8 to 10 minutes after encountering debris filled water… or accidentally stirring up the bottom in the shallows, you can flush out most pebbles and vegetation from the engine.
  18. Hello Roy, I believe this one will work...it is a Gem Product and the part number is LATCH-91-512-52 and the KEEPER-91-600-52-0. The phone number to Gem is 800-874-4506 and their website is www.gemlux.com to find the distributor nearest you. I hope this helps,
  19. Good advice and great help Ian...thank you. The fuel lines and the fuel tank in your boat are not harmed by fuel containing up to 10% Ethanol. Please read and heed the information available to you at the links Ian provided, it is very important. Ethanol not only draws moisture but it also acts as a solvent and will "clean" the inside of your fuel tank, lines and other components causing debris to loosen and possibly move through the fuel system into the engine.
  20. Hello jmerc, I cannot be positive but the picture looks like the 1990 2300...if so the specs are as follows: LOA 23' Beam 98" Fuel Cap 51 gal. Deadrise 22 degrees Dry Weight-Cuddy 3950 lbs. Dry Weight-Bowrider 3350 lbs. Max hp rating is 350 MAG The owner's manual is no longer available as the factory suffered a fire in late 1999 that destroyed all archived owners manual information. You can download the 200LS in the Product Support section of the forums as it is the most similar model to yours. I hope this helps.
  21. Hello Dan, A bow thruster was not offered as a factory option on the 282 Cruiser. We cannot advise you on installation or product as we have no data or performance information to rely on. Sorry!
  22. The fresh water cooling system for that Volvo Penta engine was not offered as a factory option. Check with your local certified Volvo service center for their recommendation (ww.volvopenta.com or 757-436-5100). For a limited time the Corsa Performance "Quick and Quiet" was an option on the 248LS with the 5.7 engine. It was not a popular option (very expensive). The part number was EXHAUST #15643-QQ. Depending on the boat's specific waterline measurement you will also need a riser kit. We recommend that you seek the advice and assistance from a Corsa Performance representative- if improperly installed you can have water ingestion! Phone number to Corsa Performance is 800-486-0999 in Ohio or www.corsaperformance.com. The thru hull exhaust can increase your boat's top end....but not by much! Also be certain to check your boating area's laws and regulations regarding sound decibels allowed. Many states have banned this type of exhaust.
  23. Hello Jake, Every year we tried to tell the Marketing Department that the bow storage is NOT a cooler prior to the brochure photo shoots. They finally got the message for the 2008 literature and web site. There is no retro fittable liner to act as an insulator.
