What is the engine/outdrive/prop on the 262 Cruiser you are looking at?

It has 7.4 liter Mercruiser, with the Bravo 3 outdrive with stainless steel duo-props.

This boat runs really fast, ~40 MPH but I seem to have some trim tab control issues at high speed.

RayBob, I have a 2000 262CR with the 5.7L B3 combo and tabs. She'll hit 40 when properly trimmed. As the admin said, take your time and make small adjustments. Note the water and wind conditions and also, how you're loaded. But with that big a** 7.4L, you shouldn't have any lack of power issues.

Midwest, You are right about the power. We really didn't get a lot of use before we put it up for the winter. Driving with just the top up wasn't to bad, but with the full canvas on it and 6 people, it seemed to want to roll from one side to the other. We will soon be back out on it and will let you know if it gets any better. Thanks.

Raybob, get used to the rolling. Ours rolls with just 2 aboard. Our cruisers have a high a profile, 8'6" beam and with all that canvas, it's like having a sail in the wind. With time and experience, you'll learn to control much of the rolling with the trim tabs. If you find you just hate the rolling, upgrade to a bigger boat with a much wider beam. :D

I have a 2002 262 CR that I just purchased with a 5.7 VP Gi, Duoprop, can someone tell me what my high RPM should be, is it 4500 or 5000, I have only been up to 4200 so far and have not pushed it to full throttle (I have manuals on the way).

Hi, I just purchased my first boat and it's a 2000 262 CR with the 7.4 Volvo engine in it but we purchased it online from and individual and got no manuals on anything. Can you tell me where you ordered yours from? I'm hitting a wall trying to get any manuals everywhere I try! Any help you can off would be greatly appreciated.

I have been told that this size boat has a "tender" hull. I have been working wiyh it for a while and like you said, it's going to roll some. One thing that I found has helped is if I first trim the outdrive to level things out and then treak the trim tabs it works better.

Hi,

I just purchased a 1999 Monterey 262 cruiser.

It would be very helpfull to have an owners manual and if possible a brochure.

Are there any Monterey enthusiastic who still have this documents?

You can download an owner's manual right here from this site.

I met my wife in 01 and she had a 1998 262 with the 7.4 and it was one of the best riding boats to date.Since then we sold the Monterey bought a Regal 2460 then a Maxum 30 then a new Regal 3560 then for the last 8.5 years a 450 Sea Ray 51 ft overall. It is now for sale and next week we settle on a 2007 Monterey 270 with Volvo 5.7.Been up now coming back down and looking forward to it.

262 Driver's Bench Seat adjustment??

We just purchased a 1998 262! The on-line Owners manual doesn't have anything about how adjust the seat. Or how to fold it out into a bed.

I unscrewed what looked like a 'pin' but it still doesn't move.

Does that mean it's stuck??

Thanks in advance for any help :)

First trip to Catalina!! Lots of fun but a few issues ...

1) The Port Trim tab does not work. Anyone fix one? Are they the Bennett Marine Trim Tab Actuators (Mfg # A1101EX )

2) Several of the console rotating switches do not work.(ie. Blower, Bilge..) Where do we find replacements?

3) We hit something going over (aparently) and there is a scratch in the gelcoat. Is that a DIY fix?

Thanks!
