  1. Hello James, If you have a Merc certified technician in the vicinity you might want to give them a call to troubleshoot with you. You can also give Mercruiser Tech Support a call at 405-743-6566. Have your engine serial number ready when you contact them. It could be the carb...or the fuel pump and probably not a cheap fix.
  2. Hello Matt, The bottom of the bow backrest has two tabs that unscrew. Unscrew them....the next step is the backrest is held on by upholstery clips and you will need to pull up on it to slide it out of the clips. That will enable you to reach the cleat. Gem Products will send you a new replacemnt cleat at no charge as they do have a limited lifetime warranty. Contact info: www.gemlux.com (go to the warranty section) or you can all 800-874-4506 and ask for warranty. Be certain to check and see if you need to send the old one to them. I hope this helps.
  3. Hello Brian, Those vents are distributed by Attwood Marine Products and they are a two part piece...you will probably have to buy the whole thing but the caps can be easily taken off, you have to remove a small clip that holds them on and then they screw apart. Be certain to save the small clip as you need to pop it back on the bottom of the cap after you screw it in place on the boat. Do not use excessive force when replacing them- finger tight is good. Attwood contact info: www.attwoodmarine.com or 616-897-9241 in Michigan and the part number is #1671 FUEL VENT WH.
  4. There is a white access cover under the helm (it is made of ABS). Just unscrew it to remove it and you will see the fuse panel
  5. Hello "box-of-rain", I hope I am correct in assuming that you are looking for information regarding the Ethanol blended fuels and what to use with them (?). Here is a consumer report from Volvo Penta with their fuel and additive recommendations: 18_8_7_Ethanol_Blended_Gasoline_Consumer_Info.txt
  6. Hello Mike, Yes...which boat model/year do you need one for?
  7. I was also unsuccessful in getting a specific Taylor part number for them! Over the phone and on the web site. Check with your Monterey dealer as they often have little, pesky, "hard to find pieces" in stock. If they do not-send an e-mail to "info@montereyboats.com" with your address and we will get a couple out to you via US mail.
  8. Hello Mike, Welcome Aboard! The 214FS is a great boat with lots of room. I know you will have tons of fun this summer. As for your question, Monterey does not recommend a specific trailer manufacturer as many different types are used, but the most popular is probably the bunker style. It really depends on where you boat (water, ramp conditions, etc) and what you prefer.... I have attached the trailer specifications pdf for the 214 to this message for you. Trailer_Drawing_MD_MG__214FS_FSC__Rev_0.pdf
  9. Hello Scott214, There is an access panel below the helm. It is made of ABS material and is held in place with screws. Once the screws are removed, you will see the fuse block. All of the fuses are clearly marked with the component and the amperage. Sometimes when they sit for a while, the gauge needle can quite simply be stuck.
  10. Hello Beau, That hatch is a NIBO N1139-10H-7W and is a 20" round. The distributor is Bomar Pompanette Inc. (603-826-5791) and their web address is www.pompanette.com. We do not have a separate number for the hinge only as we purchased them completely assembled in bulk. Plexi, plastics and polymers have come a long way in 9 years as far as durability. You might want to think about replacing the whole hatch with a new improved one. They are expensive...however, as the old saying goes "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
  11. Hello Chris, Unfortunately, the exact part number has been purged from the system. However, they were called "self catching rim latches" and were on the galley doors (we used to purchase cabinets already built) from Spartech Industries. Contact info is Ben Marx at 321-636-7562. We currently use the same type of battening latch and the part number is 85705400-00-LATC. It is a Southco product, www.southco.com or 610 459 4000. If you get a chance go to their web page and check it out. I hope this helps.
  12. Hello there "Black Pearl"...we cannot advise you as we have not tested, proto-typed or used wake plates, ballast or cruise control on the deck boat models. There is no data for us to make an assessment of the functionability of those accessories.
  13. It could be the transition of "winter blend fuels" and summer temperatures. The fact that you say "it did this some last summer also" tells me fuel might be the culprit. Try topping off the tank with hightest and use a fuel stabilizer. Gasolines have a different mix in the winter than they do in the summer months. This is done to aid in engine combustion in cold temperatures. Because boats are not normally used as often as cars...you can end up with a winter fuel mix when your boat is ready for SUMMER!
  14. Hello Bayboater, That sounds like it could be a simple loose connection somewhere. It might even be the switch. It would be best to call Merc or Volvo "tech help" for troubleshooting advice. Please have your engine serial number ready when you contact them. www.mercurymarine.com or 405-743-6566 in Okla.--------www.volvopenta.com or 757-436-5100 in Virginia.
  15. The original vendor was bought out by another company and has since changed hands again. After all of that, the part number trail went cold.... The current shower curtains used in the 250 Cruiser is #CURTAIN-SHWR-36X58 and is distributed by National Hospitality Supply. Phone is 414-481-2136 and ask for Customer Service online is www.nathosp.com. You can also purchase shower curtains through RV and Motor coach supply houses.
  16. The factory installed anchor locker thru hull was 3/4" in diameter. You can purchase these at any marine supply store. It is best to use a marine grade adhesive/sealant when re-installing.
  17. Parts purchases are made through your Monterey dealer as the factory cannot sell direct. To find the dealer closest to you, click on "Dealer Locator" after you enter the home page at www.montereyboats.com (and choose North America or International) and then enter your zip code.
  18. Being hooked up to shore power is fine. It is when you leave the boat, don't feel like unplugging the shore power cord, winding it up and stowing it. Disconnect everything, it decreases the amount of stray current.
  19. Hello JRSto, To answer your questions with the most current "QL" accessories information you need to contact Volvo Penta direct at 757-436-5100. Keep in mind that corrosion from galvanic current can come from several sources. Your neighbors boat, the shore power hook up, appliances out on the dock, condition of the pilings, improper bottom painting, etc. The type of water, very high salinity, pollution and mineral content can all add to the fierce powers of corrosion. Make sure you have annodes made from the materials that are correct for your boating waters (double check with Volvo when you talk to them). Keep them below the waterline when the boat is at the dock. Do not leave the boat hooked up to shore power unless absolutely necessary. If the dockside receptacles/hook ups are in disrepair let your marina know about it. Talk to your boating neighbors and advise them on how to help reduce galvanic current.
  20. Hello Chris, That is the actual manual for the 2001 model year 200LS (the manuals are improving over the years). For the engine manual you will need to contact Volvo direct at www.volvopenta.com or 757-436-5100.
  21. Hello Trott46, Unfortunately, due to a fire in late 1999 there is no manual specific to your boat model available form the factory. You can download the 180 Edge manual in the Product Support Section here in the "My Monterey" site. It is the most similar to yours. If you have a specific question about your boat's systems you can post it here, you can contact your nearest Monterey dealer, send an email to info@montereyboats.com or call 352-529-9181 Monday thru Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00pm (ET) and ask for "Tech Help". For an engine manual please contact the manufacturer direct at www.mercurymarine.com - 405-743-6566 in Oklahoma or www.volvopenta.com - 757-436-5100 in Virginia.
  22. This update is being copied and posted from the "NMMA Currents" which is a newsletter distributed by the National Marine Manufacturers Association: EPA Releases Draft Permit Proposal Today Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published its Clean Water Act proposal in the Federal Register. The proposal seeks to impose new, unprecedented requirements on recreational boaters, forcing them to learn and follow specific practices mandated by the federal government in order to operate their boats and manage everyday, overboard water discharges. EPA's proposal serves as further confirmation that boating enthusiasts need to unite and actively work to help pass the Clean Boating Act of 2008 (S. 2766 and H.R. 5949) before the September 30, 2008 deadline! Now more than ever, we need to encourage boaters and boating industry representatives all across the country to reach out to their Senators and Representatives, urging them to support these all-important pieces of legislation before it's too late! To read the detailed press release issued in response to EPA's permit proposal, CLICK HERE http://www.boatblue.org/news.aspx?id=17372...l=1&v=41443. A total of FOUR PUBLIC MEETINGS (in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Portland) will be held in the coming weeks regarding the EPA permit proposal. NMMA is strongly encouraging anyone that can attend to please do so and make the case that this proposal is bad for boating and boaters everywhere! For meeting dates, times and locations, and to read the official EPA permit notice published in today's Federal Register, CLICK HERE . http://cfpub.epa.gov/npdes/home.cfm?progra...l=2&v=41443. DON"T FORGET: Please take 3 MINUTES of your day and visit BOATBLUE.ORG to send a quick message to your Representatives and Senators urging them to support recreational boating and pass The Clean Boating Act of 2008. Encourage your family, friends and colleagues to do the same!. DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE; ACT TODAY! For more information, contact Mat Dunn at (202) 737-9760 or mdunn@nmma.org. ________________________________________
  23. If you are talking about mooring covers you can contact Westland Industries in Arizona: 480-756-0333.
  24. First a angled flag pole receptacle on top of the radar arch. Will the material on top of the arch support this without ripping through the fiberglass. How large is the flag? Do you have an idea of weight? A small one would such as a 1' x 2' or so would be fine. Next a rod holder on either side of the gunnel. I'd like to drill a hole and drop a flush mount rod holder in. Probably right above the portable cooler area This area of the gunnel (not directly above the ice chest) would be okay. Just remember- rod holders are designed to be open and allow water to get down into the boat. the opposite side of the cockpit. Not a good idea on that side do to electrical components wiring in that area below. On the swim platform on the rear corners I'd like to install pop up cleats for temporary or calm water tie-downs so the lines when criss crossed off the back of the boat aren't in everyones way getting off and on the boat. Any tips would help thanks. The extended swim platform is not designed for holding a boat's weight- not even temporarily, you will damage it.
  25. Hello Tony, That dash panel is a mold (stamped) process and the hole impressions for the gauges are in that mold. It is not possible to obtain one without the recessed areas and the contour.
