  1. Hello KKbne, The outdrive trim resevoir uses drive lube. It is different than regular oil. Please contact your outdrive manufacturer for their specific recommendation: www.mercurymarine.com 405-743-6566 (in Okla) or www.volvopenta.com 757-436-5100 (in Va.). Depending on your type of outdrive, procedures and product recommendations differ.
  2. Hello Brian, Your wiper motor is a Marinco product (707-226-9600 and ask for Kelly) or online at: http://www.marinco.com. The part # is WIPER-MOT-37181-12 and the description is: AFI-1000 WIPER MOTOR 80 DEG. SWEEP 2-1/2. That should do it for you.
  3. Hello Garybeez, That light is a low voltage sensor warming light and it normally comes on when it senses the voltage drop below 12.5 volts. This light should go out when you turn on the battery charger. If it doesn’t, check the sensor located behind the panel and make sure the wire connections are secure (there are 3 wires). Let us know.
  4. Hello traderdavel, The upholstery patterns and materials are no longer available from the original vendor. Your best bet is to have some made at a local upholstery shop. You will get a good fit and a good color match also. Check with your Monterey dealer, marina or marine supply stores for a list of recommended sub-contractors or shops. Typically, marine upholstery, vinyls and fabrics are available for about 3 to 5 years.
  5. Hour Meters were an option on your 276 Cruiser as well. Available only in the tachometer face.
  6. Hello, Hour meters were a factory option on the bowriders at that time. If the boat was ordered with one, it will be located on the tachometer face at the bottom.
  7. Hello Skisox24, The owner manuals section will be updated within a few weeks, adding new material and photos. It is an ongoing process and we hope to have it complete soon. If you like, send an e-mail to www.info@montereyboats.com with your request- inquiries are usually taken care of within a few days. Thank You,
  8. The part number is #0057406 and it is a "fast set".
  9. Send an e-mail over to "info@montereyboats.com" with your request and current mailing address. You will need to include your boat's Hull Identification number with your info.
  10. Depending on where you are located, MiniCraft (located in Florida) and Spectrum Colors (California) both supply gelcoat repair kits going back several years. They both provide very good service and match Monterey colors as well as many other boat manufacturers products. Mini Craft: minicraft.com or 800-282-8244 Spectrum Color: spectrumcolor.com or 800-754-5516 You will need your boat's Hull Identification number when you contact them.
  11. Hello William, You are right, the white Kenwood speakers are 6.5".

    sunpad!

Hello Nick, Your sunpad can be ordered through your Monterey dealer. The part number is UPHOL-290-5-95 290 SUNPAD. The delivery time right now is about two weeks.
  13. Hello Roger, The 322 Cruiser (all model years to include your 1999) has no history of leaks, specific warranty issues or factory recalls. When you say "near the head" where exactly do you mean?
  14. Hello Murph, The bow steering or "wandering", (also called "tracking") is typical in a deep V hull design with a 20 degree or less deadrise such as yours. The boat will track back and forth on it's own when you are at idle speed, just try not to over correct it. This same hull design and degree of deadrise also gives you the smooth ride, comfort and manuverability you enjoy while up on plane. Does the boat handle and perform satisfactory at speed on plane? The trim tab factory option offered on the 248 model was a 12" x 9" Bennett Marine product and the part number was #62351000-00-TTAB. You can give them a call to find the nearest distributor to you at 954-427-1400. Relax, enjoy...
  15. To clean the vinyl sections of your cabin's interior you can use a household cleaner such as spray on Fantastik or Mr. Clean. No need to scrub hard, just wipe with a soft cloth. Mild detergents such as Ivory dishwashing liquid are okay to use for small spot stain removal on your interior vinyls. Do not use abrasive pads/sponges, always use a soft absorbent cloth and rinse the area well. For the fabric covered areas, Resolve is great at cleaning off small spots or debris. You can vaccuum them regularly as well to remove dust and hair. Simply wipe your cabinets with a damp cloth- they are covered with a high quality veneer. Aerospace 303 is a good product to use for protecting your vinyls, but if you catch a spill quick enough- cool water with a sponge will bring almost everything out. Do not use products containing ammonia, bleach, antibacterial agents or abrasives. Do not use Armor All products on your vinyls (cabin or cockpit). Try not to be overzealous in your housekeeping, a simple wipedown with plain water after you return to the dock is sufficient (unless you have little ones on board or man's best friend!).
  16. That is correct, there have not been any changes to the hull of the 268 Super Sport (bowrider or the Cuddy version) since it's creation.
  17. 2. It was the vacum pump generator. What is an appropriate amount of time between cycles considering no flushes? I think there might be a leak somewhere? The pump should not be cycling without use and it sounds like there is a leak. The likely culprit is the seal inside the bowl itself. That is where a leak develops most often in all head systems. Give the seal a good cleaning (Sealand has a specific seal cleaning kit available through West Marine) and see if it stops. Do not use a household bowl cleaner in your marine head, almost all of them are caustic and will ruin your rubber seals/components in your head. Also check the nut "298SS Guy" mentioned in his message (that was good).
  18. There is a Monterey dealer located in Hot Springs. It is Salty Dog Boating Center, 4931 Central Avenue and the phone number is 501-525-7007 (ask for Leo) or e-mail is www.leo@saltydogboatingcenter.com. You can contact Mercury and Volvo for your closest engine and outdrive service center (good suggestion "flyboy") if need be: www.mercurymarine.com or 405-743-6566 www.volvopenta.com or 757-436-5100 I hope this helps!
  19. Hello CalDawn1, Congratulations and welcome aboard! We have not had any history of warranty issues with the ski tow ring on the 228. However, the ski tow ring on that boat is designed for water skiing only. It is not intended for wakeboarding, tubing or pulling any other object behind the boat. The ski tow ring should never be used to tie off the boat or tow a disabled boat. Since your boat is about 6 years old (but new to you) it would be a good idea to check the integrity of the extended swim platform by giving it a good "once over". Check for signs of previous misuse such as stress cracking or other damage. Look at the top, edges and underneath the platform, pull and tug on it a bit to see if there is excessive flexing. You might want to go as far as asking the previous owner if they used the boat for watersports and if so, what type of activities. Wasn't it good ole Ben Franklin who said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"???
  20. The plug head is a 9/16". Get yourself a heavy duty 9/16" wrench with as long a handle on it as you can find (for leverage). Spray the plug first with any lubricating product specifically made for helping loosen tight fittings. There's several out there on the market. Bear down! I am certain you will be able to remove it. If that doesn't work use a long handled pair of vise grips...one thing about a crescent wrench is they have a little bit of play in them and can open up when alot of pressure is applied. That caused them to chew up the edges of the plug.
  21. Those ports were distributed by ITC Inc. (616-396-1355) and the part number was PORT-81811-S-WHITE OPENING. Those were used for 1998 through 2001 model years on the 242 Cruiser. I hope this helps!!
  22. What model and year is your boat?
  23. Hello Soonerjake, Yes, you can add the factory Sport arch to the 2006 268SS. However, your existing bimini top will not work with the new arch. The part number is 15204010-00-ARCH and the part number for the Bimini top is 30SA-(COLOR)-11-00-BTOP. Delivery is about three weeks out right now, after January 2nd! I hope this helps.
  24. Hello Jessie, I am assuming you are talking about the companion way door. You can purchase a spare key or blanks for your C-Way door through www.mobella.com or call 727-531-7779. First you will need the number from the key. It probably begins with an 8 or a 9. I have also heard from a few boat owners that Harley Davidson shops have the blanks for the Mobella locks.
  25. Hello Broph, Here is a link to the formula plus definitions and history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonnage
