  1. Yes, jet drive boats do not do too well directionally in reverse. Sterndrives are different for sure, but with the Dual Prop, it is much easier in close quarters to handle than the same boat with only a single prop. Our 282CR is our third stern drive boat, and second boat with dual props. Let us know how the sea trial goes. Good luck !!
  2. Plenty of power for that boat. But do not expect the speed of your jet boat. Have you piloted a cruiser of this size and weight before ? Some people see the advantage of cabin, sleeping accomodations, and layout in a cruiser when coming from a runabout, and are often shocked when they find out the cruiser is not as nimble, easy on gas, easy to trailer, easy to maintain boat like they had. I would encourage you to take a sea trial before you get too far into the process, to make sure the boat is what you want. Of all the boats in that size and category, the 280 SCR is best in class for sure.
  3. On second thought. The canvas was most likely done for the factory by Taylor made. it was on my 2005 282CR. Call them and ask for the pieces you need. You will need to call the Bradenton, Fla. facility for canvas questions. 1-941-747-1900
  4. We have a 2005 282CR with the Mercruiser 4.3L V6's and BIII drives. The boat handles rougher conditions very well IMO. We boat on lake Michigan and 4 to 6 footers are not uncommon. Although we don't usually go out when it is that rough, but a couple of times we got caught in it, and the boat did great. As far as skiing is concerned, I'm not sure if the 282 with these engines would make an adequate ski boat. Same with the 5.0L engines. It might be possible with the 5.7L engine package, but good luck finding one equipped that way. The boat is just not made to pull a skier, but it could if needed. For most all conditions, the 4.3L V6 power package wil be adequate. It's a cruiser and not a speed boat, so it does what it intended for well. We got 41 mph at WOT with our 282 last season. With bottom paint and a little marine growth, it is about 38 to 39 mph at WOT. Cruises nicely at 3,000 RPM @ 26 mph.
  5. If you have not tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser yet, please do. They do a good job on most vinyl stains, and are awesome in cleaning up the non skid surfaces on your boat.
  6. Since it's a new model, it seems to be hard to find test data. But, it is actually a re-badged 194FS, and this test from 2007 should be fairly close to what you can expect out of your boat, even though this 194FS had the 5.0L V8 in it. http://www.boattest.ca/boat-test/bowrider/411/2007-monterey-194-fs.html

    Canvas Boots

That is excellent customer service !! Thank you very much for the help. I can't say enough about the service you provide to owners. Outstanding !!
  8. MOST, or anyone else. I need at least one, possibly three boots for the canvas on our 2005 282CR when they are not set up. Mainly I want one for the aft canvas, but may get the ones for the mid ships (behind arch) and one for the front (in front of arch) We like the sun, and often have these rolled up, and bungeed to stay that way. Would like the OEM Monterey logo on them. I suppose I can get them made at a local canvas shop, but wanted to see if they were available from Monterey direct or through a dealer locally. Not sure if Taylor-Made has anything but the canvas itself for the camper.
  9. Uhhhhh, there is a link provided by MOST right here on the site. You missed that ? http://www.montereyboats.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1078
  10. Probably a question better asked on iBoats forum or marineengines.com. While your boat is a Monterey, the factory does not make the engines and accessories attached to it. The engines come to Monterey ready to drop in. So you should look up the engine schematics for yours, and do a google search for the replacement part #'s.
  11. You are on the right track. Replace one at a time until issue is resolved. All of them probably do not need replacing.

Did you ever find out what was used on the seats? Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Erasers? They work great for us. I too am curious about the vinyl color/source. I have a small tear on our 2006 282CR and not sure if it can be repaired or the entire seat needs to be recovered. I want the vinyl to match the rest of the seats, and need to know if the same is still available. MOST, can you help ????
  14. Probably too late of a response, but that engine should be fine for what you want to do. It's a great hull and that is all the power it really needs to get up and go. Bigger is always better, but in this case, 320hp. is enough.
  15. It's possible to wakeboard behind the boat. You probably could wakeboard behind a tug boat, but why would you want to ? Obviously the boat is a cruiser and not intended for wakeboarding, but people do it. The maxiumum speed is up to you and your abilities. You will certainly have a large wake to jump. You need to get a bridle to attach the rope to the boat. You will find that the rope hits the wake and will cause some issues for the wakeboarder, simply because you have to attach it too low on the transom.
  16. I'll try again...... 2005 282CR, Lake Michigan and surrounding waters is where we boat.

    for most

What year engine is it ? Carb or Fuel Injected ?
  18. Just take it to a local canvas shop with the old pieces to use as patterns. Will be much cheaper and quicker than trying to go back 10 years with OEM manufacturer.
  19. 1. I have red color body and white hull, how do I maintain the gel coat's "brightness"? Wax it. 2. How oten do I change the anode (Aluminium or Magnesium) on the Volvo Penta Outdrive? i.e. how to tell from looking at the size of the anode.2 to 3 years or as needed. 3. Do I need to paint the Volvo outdrive where the paint peels off. What type of paint and where can I buy the gray color paint?Paint if you like. Get genuine Volvo OD primer and paint here: http://www.marinepartsexpress.com/paint.htm 4. Do I need to do maintenence to the trailer? (EZdrive)Yes
  20. It does not work. All I added was "2005 Monterey 282CR" and got this message. [#10211] You may only use up to lines of text in your signature I also tried to add a picture that was only 160 x 120 and got the same message.
  21. Seperate parts, but you can get them both here. http://www.hingesandlatches.com/panel-latches-and-locks/draw-latches.html?limit=all&mode=list&price=1%2C10
