  1. I have a 2006 234 FSX, and I am not aware of an OEM tower from Monterey. When I searched online for 234 FSX with towers, I found quite a variety of towers. And even the OEM parts that are not part of the main hull are often provided by other manufacturers (e.g., Attwood, Taylor Made). My recommendation is to look closely at the tower to see if there are any markings that suggest the manufacturer and model. Perhaps it was added at the dealer, so if you have contacts at the original dealer, they may be able to help find the source. If that doesn't work, look online for other similar installations to see if you can find towers that look the same. Or post pictures of yours on the forum to see if others can help identify it. Good luck.
  2. It means your hours counter is actively recording engine operating time.
  3. Before you go too far, try smacking the dash next time and see if the gauge comes to life. If so, the gauge is sticking, which is not unusual. Then you can decide if you need to fix the gauge or just live with it. My gauge needs a smack about half the time, but it isn’t worth fixing it - yet.
  4. I generally agree. Since boats spend time sitting and in humid conditions, I suspect the mechanics of the gauges get a little sticky. I have had to tap my fuel gauge and occasionally my tach for years. If it gets too bad, replacements are available.

They are available through regular retailers like Walmart and Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Igloo-Marine-Contour-Cooler-quart/dp/B01NAM1TNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526129291&sr=8-1&keywords=igloo+marine+cooler+25+quart
  6. That is the light that is in my 234 FSX. I replaced the bulbs with blue LEDs. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/YITAMOTOR-Wedge-5-SMD-Ultra-Light/dp/B00ZEHJIGG/ref=sr_1_11?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1524314343&sr=1-11&keywords=Blue+led+194
  7. Be sure to test the pump under load. The pump can leak and get water inside. This will cause it to draw too much current and blow a fuse under load. It may need to be replaced. I had this happen.
  8. It happens I just replaced mine. Remove the screw and look at the metal plate on the bottom to verify the manufacture and model number. This is the one in my 2006 234FSX. http://www.eberhard.com/content/776-1 Thye had only limited stock for the female only portion when I bought mine. It is only about a dollar more for both the male and female part. They are only about $5 ea. Plus shipping, so I replaced all 6 of mine. The company had great support for getting what I needed.
  9. Likely the thermostat is stuck open. Maybe it has something lodged in it, or maybe it is just worn. I don't know the spec for your engine, but most are supposed to run at about 175F. I recommend replacing your thermostat.
  10. It may be an illusion in the photo, but it appears the back strut may be bent slightly. That would cause the center strut to be too low. You could try disassembling the frame and flipping the back strut left to right. See if the bend can be removed. Or have a longer center strut made. I had an entire new frame made for my boat this spring - went from aluminum to stainless.
  11. I have a 2006 234fsx with a 350MAG MPI which is supposed to produce 300 HP. This would be the same size block as yours (GM small block). I think there is a 383 (6.2L) small block that is also a small block that is supposed to produce 350 HP. Given how tight it is to work on this engine in the crammed engine compartment our boat has, I do not recommend going to a big block - even if it does manage to fit. It would also add more weight to the back of the boat. An 8.2L would be a big block. You will want to check with the engine supplier to make sure everything you need will be there. Different suppliers provide different configurations. However, the blocks for the 5.0, 5.7, and 6.2 should be basically the same. You may also need to consider the horsepower limits of your outdrive. My 350MAG came with a Bravo 3 outdrive.

  13. The manual for the boat is posted in this forum here: http://forums.montereyboats.com/index.php?showtopic=391 However, it appears you are asking about the engine and outdrive. Mine is a Mercruiser, so yours might be too. You may be able to find generic manuals for your model online. Specific parts will be based on the serial number of your engine and outdrive respectively.
  14. I have a 2006 234fsx that I trailer to Lake Hopatcong at Lee's. It is black. Obviously, it is a little smaller than yours. I haven't unwrapped from the winter yet - busy with other projects. Hopefully this weekend.
  15. You might want to visit here to see if it helps. In don't have the same boat, but I had a similar problem. The original struts on my boat are attwood. http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/product/oem-gas-springs
