  1. It is if the boat weights less than 10K.
  2. EXCELLENT!!!! Found the ones that I wanted. Thank You very much, Dan
  3. I would like to add some additional lighting on my 282cr on seperate switches and use the same type that is used on the instrument panel. Do you have the manufacture, make and model of the panel rocker switches? Do you know of an online vendor where I could purchase? Thank you Dan
  4. The breaker for the windlass on the 282CR is located under the cockpit sink, below and to the left of the battery switchs.
  5. There is a switch right next to the cockpit light switch for the engine room lights. It's one of the horizontal switches under the steering wheel. Dan
  6. On my old 2005 250cr there was a 12v plug where the TV goes. If I remember correctly, it was perpendicular to the 110v outlet. If you don't have one, I would tend to think putting one in should not be a problem. Removing the microwave should give you good access to the panel and the side where the TV goes.
  7. Letting the anchor down is pretty easy. Just make sure that the lock on the chain is not engaged. As far as bringing it up... I ususally just jog it a bit to swing the bow towards the anchor. I then engage the drives a bit so that I'm not using the windlass to pull the boat towards the anchor. You'll be able to hear the slight strain on the windlass if your pulling the boat. When you hear the strain, you should back off. Once the windlass is free, I keep it in the up position until I get to the chain. After that I jog it the rest of the way up. I've seen folks not jog it but at least on my 282, the chain tends to bounce on the plate and make lots of noise. Enjoy your 282....it is a beautiful boat. I think it's Monterey's best layout in that size. Dan
  8. On my 2006 282CR, the fridge is wired to the DC panel Refrigerator breaker.
  9. All you have to do is go to Best buy and purchase an analog to digital converter for around $40. You might also have to upgrade your antenna. Try the converter first. Good Luck, Dan
  10. So I ended up finding a good deal on an 1800 watt Zantrex. Started my install...don't have it all wired in yet but here are some pics. . . . I'll add some more as I go along
  11. As far as I know, there is no switch to shut off the Vacu flush pump. As Ian stated before, if your pump keeps running, you have something wrong with the system. Leave some water in the bowl when you flush. If the water drains, then you have a leaking seal in the bowl. It could just be that it needs cleaning.....real easy thing to do. If you still have the paperwork for your boat, you might still have the cleaning tool for the bowl seal.
  12. Hello Rip5, I have a 2006 282 and have been told by Monterey that a factory inverter was never offered on this model.....not sure exactly what the previous owner took out. As far as cable, I would think that you'd be all set as even if the boat had an inverter, the cable would not go through it. Depending on what Sharp TV you have, it could already be hooked up to DC (12V)....I know mine is. As far as the fridge, as long as the 115v breaker is in the on position, it should work. Good luck....if you want me to take any pictures of certain areas, let me know....I would tend to think the 2005 & 2006 are very similar. Dan By the way, my air conditioner is factory wired to shore power #2.
  13. Can't answer #1 but as far as question #2 goes, the note on the specification page is specific to outboard motors. It does not apply to your set up. Good luck....if you do install them, please let us know how you make out. Been considering it myself for a while. Dan
  14. Welcome to the board You'll love the 282cr. Mine is an 06 with the Mercruisers and was able to get 52mph on the GPS when I first bought it. I have a lot more stuff in it now and top speed is about 47ish. She cruises really nice at about 3500rpm's (30mph). I don't have the specifics on fuel consumption but I feel it's pretty darn good for a boat this size. My 05 250cr burned about 14 gph with 1 motor at cruise and I'll bet that the 282 is somewhere's around 16-18...not bad for a twin engine boat. As far as handling in rough water, this boat is AWESOME...very stable and cuts through the chop nicely. Good luck....you'll enjoy this boat. ....can't answer you about the barrier coating.
  15. Hello there Ian....really appreciate your replies. As far a voltage for the fridge goes, I have a breaker on the 12V panel and one on the 115V panel. I'm pretty sure as long as the 115V breaker is off, the fridge will only run on 12V. I can also shut off the battery charger via the panel breaker. I know that I can shut if off when I run my generator through the shore power lines, would expect the same through the genset connection. I can have my electrician make up a line to hook up to my portable generator just to check it out though. After reading your comment about mounting and the type. I did some research and did notice that some are specifically made for that type of environment. I do have a spot in mind that is outside of the "engine room" and would allow for short wire feed to the batteries. I will probably go that route. Thanx for the tip.... Gotta keep the wife happy....helps make the boating experience much easier.
  16. Prior to buttoning up the boat for the winter this past weekend, my electrician and I took a good look around. I never noticed this but the shore power switches are slide switches that allow "only" the shore power or power from the generator. According to my electician, this is the safety switch to ensure that there is no back feed. As far as "tapping" in, he found a clump of wires (12V dc & 115V ac) all wrapped up in the engine compartment with the 115v labeled as generator. It fully appears that my boat is pre-wire for a generator. My electrician states that all we had to do was hook into those wires for the 115v and then wire in the 12v battery. I pretty much agree with him but wanted to ensure that I / we are not missing anything.
  17. Thanx for the reply MOST. After a brief discussion with my electrician, he asked me if a generator was an option on this boat. I stated that it was and his comment was that if the boat is pre-wire, there is a possibility he could put in a transfer switch and then plug into the generator wire harness. I was not able to find this "harness". Is my boat pre-wired for a generator? I'm pretty sure that I'll go Ian's route....try out a good 12v coffee maker and use my external generator for the micro but certainly want to keep my options open.
  18. Thanks for the reply Ian. First off, yes I am the guy that asked about adding an additional house battery. I did and it worked out very well. I do remember you offering advice and appreciate that. The only reason I was thinking of 2000w was to ensure that I could also use the microwave. It's probably overkill but wanted to make sure I had enough power. My current 1000w generator works ok but I was just a bit concerned on the initial surge. Maybe 1500w would do fine. As far as tapping into my existing 110v, yes I understand the issues and would only do through a certified electrician with a gen set type switch. The summer before last, I did buy a 12v coffee maker and it didn't work worth a crap. Although I will have to say I bought a cheap one. Maybe a better quality on would work better. I'll look into a better one and will also follow up on your link. Really appreciate your info.
  19. I'm thinking of adding a 2000w continuous, 3000w surge power inverter to power the coffee maker in my 2006 282cr when we're off shore power. I currently have 2 house batteries and might add an additional. Will this inverter be enough to power the coffee maker and occasional microwave? Will I need to add another battery or will 2 be enough to make a pot of coffee without draining the batts? Is there a specific place I can tap into the 110v system (with a gen type switch) on my 282? I have a small portable generator but my wife gets up real early and likes to have her coffee, I'm thinking the inverter would be easier and obviously a lot quieter in the early am. Thanx in advance for any info Dan.
  20. Do a search on the internet for LED's. Your best bet is to take out the existing bulbs and then match them up. I went to superbrightleds.com for all of my lighting. There are many other site available.
  21. Ian, Thanx for the response. I think my best bet is to just get another deep cycle battery the same as I already have and hook that up in parallel. I did read my Protech manual but it was not clear to me if I could hook up another battery. The house battery only has 1 season on it and i've kept it charged throughout the winter so I think I'll be all set to hook up another one just like it.
  22. Jeff, The make of my charger is Protech. As far as the model, I know it's 1200 series but don't know the exact model. I can't get in the engine compartment because of a support for my tarp frame. I'll have to wait until spring to find that out.
  23. Couple of questions for MOST, however anyone can feel free to input.....Would like to add an additional house battery on my 282CR. If I just add the battery and put pos to pos and neg to neg, will the charger be able to charge both batteries? My boat has 1 standard flooded cell battery that I normally switch off when not on shore power and 1 deep cycle as the house. I am thinking of replacing the deep cycle house with 2 Optima marine blue top batteries, do you see any charging issues from the inverter / charger? Thank you
  24. Here is another option Side Shift I've been thinking about installing this system on my 282CR.
